The New York Yankees took on the the Boston Red Sox yesterday at New Yankee Stadium with the Yankees coming out on top 7 to 2. It was a solid match that aficionados with Yankees tickets won’t soon forget.
Yankees pitcher Dustin Moseley (3.86 ERA) got the win, while Josh Beckett (6.21 ERA) took the loss for the Red Sox. Dustin Moseley went 6.1 solid innings for the Yankees, allowed 6 hits, one home run and 2 earned runs with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Yankees was Joba Chamberlain (5.25), Boone Logan (3.04), David Robertson (4.12), and Mariano Rivera (0.88). The Red Sox’s starter Josh Beckett went 4.2 innings, allowed 11 hits, one home run and 7 earned runs with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Manny Delcarmen (4.54), and Tim Wakefield (5.40) also pitched for the Red Sox. With the win, Moseley’s record goes to 2-1, while Beckett is at 3-2.
In addition to the 7 runs, the Yankees scored 12 hits and committed one error. Lance Berkman led the Yankees in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Mark Teixeira’s 2 hits, and Nick Swisher with 2. Ryan Kalish could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Red Sox scored 2 runs, 7 hits and 2 errors.
