Red Sox shutout by Blue Jays at Fenway Park

The Toronto Blue Jays annihilated the Boston Red Sox yesterday at Fenway Park with the Blue Jays victorious 12 to 0. It was a huge win that rooters with Blue Jays tickets aren’t likely to forget.

Blue Jays pitcher Roy Halladay (2.79 ERA) got the win, while Tim Wakefield (4.58 ERA) took the loss for the Red Sox. The Red Sox’s starter Tim Wakefield went 3 innings, allowed 7 hits, 2 home runs and 5 earned runs with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. In addition to the 12 runs, the Blue Jays put up 17 hits and committed no errors. Randy Ruiz led the Blue Jays in hitting with 4 hits, followed by Vernon Wells’s 3 hits, and Aaron Hill with 3. Rod Barajas had a tough day at the plate, leaving 8 runners on base. The Red Sox didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Red Sox mustered no runs, 3 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Mike DiMuro, Dale Scott, Jerry Meals and Ron Kulpa. There were 37,246 Red Sox ticket holders in attendance at Fenway Park.

The win puts the Blue Jays at a record of 75-84, (27 games behind first place in the division), while the loss brings the Red Sox to 91-67, (10.5 games behind the division leader).
