The Cleveland Indians vaporized the Boston Red Sox yesterday at Fenway Park with the Indians picking up the W 9 to 1. It was one heck of a game that folks with Indians tickets aren’t likely to forget. Baseball isn’t the only game in town. See what other cheap sports tickets are out there.
Indians pitcher Justin Masterson (5.40 ERA) got the win, while Jon Lester (3.07 ERA) took the loss for the Red Sox. Justin Masterson went 5 innings for the Indians, allowed 4 hits, one home run and one earned run with 4 walks and 3 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Indians was Tony Sipp (5.09), Joe Smith (4.94), Jensen Lewis (3.86), and Hector Ambriz (4.89). The Red Sox’s starter Jon Lester went 5 innings, allowed 7 hits, one home run and 2 earned runs with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Scott Atchison (3.86), Manny Delcarmen (4.70), and Dustin Richardson (2.00) also pitched for the Red Sox. With the win, Masterson’s record goes to 4-10, while Lester is at 11-7.
In addition to the 9 runs, the Indians scored 10 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Indians, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Matt LaPorta had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. The Red Sox didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. J.D. Drew could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Red Sox managed one run, 6 hits and 3 errors.
